My NCAA Football Letter - Bowl Games SpecialDecember 25, 2009First, Happy Holidays! Second, there has been some talk about the Big 10 looking for a 12th school. Could it be Rutgers? Bowl Games to watch: St. Petersburg Bowl (12/19): Rutgers vs. UCF – How the heck did Rutgers win like that? Go New Jersey! Maaco Las Vegas Bowl (12/22): Oregon State vs. BYU –I feel sorry for BYU for this horrendous rip-off. As expected, not very close. Champs Sports Bowl (12/29): Wisconsin vs. Miami – I hate to say it, but I think Miami will win this game. Insight Bowl (12/31): Minnesota vs. Iowa State – Big ten win! Outback Bowl (1/1): Northwestern vs. Auburn – Ugh. A mediocre SEC team vs. a mediocre Big Ten team. Unfortunately, I do not expect a Big Ten win from this one. Capitol One Bowl (1/1): PSU vs. LSU – This game should be called the “How the heck did we end up here? Bowl”. Both teams made HUGE blunders during the regular season (PSU only losing at home and LSU losing their nice lead on Bama in the second half). This could turn out to be quite a good game if the Mr. Clark decides to play. Another interesting fact, LSU’s O-line is not very good and PSU has had 34 sacks this season. That combination might allow PSU’s defense to win the game. Kinoca Minolta Gator Bowl (1/1): WV vs. FSU – One question, how the heck does FSU get to play in 2010? TARP Rose Bowl (1/1): OSU vs. Oregon – Even though it would be nice for OSU to win a big bowl game, they won’t. I have a feeling Oregon will not only win, but win by more than two scores. Allstate Sugar Bowl (1/1): Cincy vs. FL – Tebow University should win. Valero Alamo Bowl (1/2): MSU vs. Texas Tech – Depending on which MSU shows up, the Big Ten may be able to win this. Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (1/4): Boise State vs. TCU – Clash of the “Division II” unbeatens. Both of these teams really need to change conferences. FedEx Orange Bowl (1/5): Iowa vs. GT – You know what, I really do think Iowa has chance. TARP BCS National Championship Game (1/7): Alabama vs. Texas - This is probably going to be one of the best National Championship games since Texas/USC. Colt McCoy had a fluke game in the Big 12 Championship and he will not make that mistake again. He is an NFL style and ready QB and will be playing more like Peyton and less like Eli. Ingram is an exciting and dynamic RB and Texas will have a tough time stopping him. Either way, I predicting a Bama win in the offensive powerhouse struggle. In fact, I’m hoping the defenses can’t keep up and we have a high scoring game. Looking forward to it. |
